Portage Bank is an established bank with over 100 years of experience serving customers in Minnesota. In 2019 the bank was purchased by a group of investors and moved headquarters to Bellevue, Washington. After settling their roots in the Pacific Northwest for five years they needed a facelift to their dated website. That’s when they approached Hive to do a complete overhaul of their digital presence.
The main goal when designing the Portage site was to bring an updated and trustworthy feeling while maintaining the heritage and history. We opted for a clean white look, bold and simple sans serif fonts, as well as images situated within the “portal” shape tying back to their logo. The result is an easy to navigate website that states Portage Bank’s goals and purpose for their customers.
When it came to mobile, we wanted to emulate the desktop experience while focusing on a digestible and modern site that is easy to navigate on the go. Trimming a lot of the fat of the past site while allowing customers to find exactly what they need quickly and efficiently.
